DIY Projects You Can Do This Weekend

By in Home Maintenance with 0 Comments

We’ve all been spending much more time in our homes over the past month. And maybe after all that time you’ve spent lounging, you’ve decided to spruce up your living room. Here are some at home projects you can do yourself!

DIY Wallpaper

Creating an accent wall has never been so easily created or removed. There are many different options available on the web with various designs. Some are more temporary than others, so just be sure to read the description fully. If you are most interested in the removable variety, be sure to search for “peel and stick” instead of just wallpaper. Sites like Wayfair, Etsy, and even Target offer easy DIY peel and stick wallpaper solutions.

The fun doesn’t stop there. These peel and stick options are also available in faux tile options for your kitchen backsplash, or counter cover ups as well that are great for renters. Just be extra sure that when you remove them that they don’t damage the original surface. And as an additional disclaimer, it might not be a bad idea to check with your landlord too!

DIY Ladder

The ladder trend has stuck around for some time due to its functionality. Not only is a great way to store and display your blanket throws, they are also an easy weekend DIY project. Easily make this project match your homes décor by switching up the type of wood you use. If your home leans more rustic, go with a rougher, more unpolished looking wood. If your home is more modern, try a smooth finish wood and paint it a darker tone. Check out this blog post on how to make your own ladder.

DIY Plant Holders

Plants are an easy way to breathe new life into a room. They’re pretty to look at and studies have even shown that they improve your mental health. A win-win, if you ask us! Since it takes longer than a weekend to grow a plant, we decided it would be better to share some easy DIY plant holders. Have a planter basket? Yep, you can paint it! Plant stand looking a little bleak? Brighten it up! And lastly, here’s an easy way to make a copper plant hanger.

Why DIY In the First Place

Maybe you are wondering why you should try your hand at a DIY project. Just how exercise creates endorphins in the body, DIY projects can leave you with a great sense of accomplishment. So maybe you feel like you’re in a rut with work, or simply ran out of Netflix shows to binge. Not to mention, learning new skills helps keep your brain in tip top shape. You can think of it as a mental work out that improves the performance of your brain.
